End Of Interview Questions

The Job Window

The interview is nearly done and because of all the homework you’ve done on the company you’re interviewing with and your excellent preparations you think you’re acing it. But you haven’t quite crossed the finish line yet.

Here’s the first in our series on answering those tough end of interview questions.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

If you have a definite vision for where you see yourself in the next five years then the answer to this question should be a piece of cake. If however you’re not exactly that clear, then you should say something that’s both vague and specific.

“I’m not sure where I’ll be in five years because I’m still in the early stages of my career, but I’m deeply interested in X industry and I hope I’ll have moved into a more senior position. I’m currently doing X to further my prospects.”

Naming a specific field and talking about your initiative lets the interviewer know you have solid well thought out goals and you’re not just floundering from one thing to the next.
