Get Yourself In The Race
You might have grand ideas on how to change the world, or you might simply have a plan for changing your current circumstances. Regardless of where your aspirations lie, plans are only words without any basis in reality until they’re followed through with actions.
If your plan is to get into a specific industry, are you simply scanning job boards, hoping something will come up in your field, or are you out actively searching out opportunities that aren’t listed? Are you researching people in your prospective industry and offering to take them out for a coffee? Do you have a plan to send an email or make a phone call to the head of a company to ask them how they got to where they are?
Actively doing things that will get you closer to your goal is what getting into the race means. Switching from being a spectator in your life to a full out participant.
If you have a dream or a goal, the only way you’re going to get where you need to go is to strap on your running shoes and get into the race. You might not win, but at least you raced, and racing is always better than standing on the sidelines!
